Ok, so this being the second part of our countdown, make sure to read the first part before peaking at this list! If you have, good job – here’s the rest of the list just for you:

5. YouTube: 62,319,173 followers

YouTube’s 62+ million followers are likely people with LOTs of time in their hands… well, at least the majority. The other day I called YouTubing (yup, it’s a verb now, like its parent company Google) a rabbit hole. Why? Because you came for one video and hours later you’re watching something completely unrelated. YouTube is one of those platforms which has a wide range of followers in terms of age and interest… there’s something on there for everyone!

4. Barack Obama: 75,241,599 followers

The President of the United States, or POTUS as the cool kids call it, is the most active world leader on the platform. He tweets about serious things that matter and affect people, but he also shows his personality through other tweets he’s sent in the past. Admit it, you’d want to be friends with this seemingly cool guy in real life! Since most of us can’t make that a reality, following him on Twitter will have to do!

3. Taylor Swift: 77,874,177 followers

Swifties unite, building nearly 78+ million followers on Twitter. There’s not one person on Earth who hasn’t sang along to her catchy tunes. This girl turns her heartbreaks into millions of records sold, making her the world’s top-earning celebrity in 2016 with a whopping $170 million. Remember that infamous Kanye West incident? I wonder if there was a spike in followers during that time because they felt bad for T.Swift being bullied by mean old Kanye West?!? She has absolutely nothing to feel bad about though – just look at those numbers!

2. Justin Bieber: 82,290,686

Are you a Belieber? If you answered yes, then you’re likely one of the 82+ million followers he has on Twitter. This Canuck (jargon for Canadian) started out as a YouTube star discovered by Usher who went on to become his mentor. Justin Bieber rose to fame from a small city in Ontario, Canada, to being one of today’s biggest music sensations. While a majority of his followers are likely young teenage girls, his music has evolved tremendously which has surely netted new fans he didn’t have before.

1. Katy Perry: 89,071,169 followers

This California Gurl (nope, that’s not a typo – just a reference to one of her hits) scores the coveted number one spot on this list. Like Rihanna, she relies heavily on her music to maintain her claim to fame. Katy Perry pumps out super addictive tunes that gets everyone hooked and with a few hit albums under her belt, she’s showing no signs of slowing down. We’re sure that nearly 90+ million followers will only grow with more albums she releases!

There it is – the top 10 Twitter accounts with the most followers! Surprised at who ranked where? Who did you think would be on this list but didn’t make the cut?

You’ll learn how humble that beginning really was. The founders and their team were horsing around at a playground in San Francisco (of all places!) and while positioned at the very top of a kid’s slide, the very idea of Twitter was born. Fast forward to 2016 and they have multiple offices around the world and while that slide and playground remains a distant memory,
